Pucker Up - The Big Kiss!
Next weekend Match.com and Lost Vagueness are rousing festival goers in Britain in an attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for “Largest simultaneous kiss” at Glastonbury, so it’s obviously the time to brush up on your lip-service. But how do you take a basic kiss and turn it into something record-breaking? Kate Taylor, relationship expert for Match.com, has all the tips you need. "Next Sunday, over 30,000 people will lock lips at to attempt to beat the Guinness Word Record for the most people kissing at the same time (currently held by with 6,400 couples). Because Match.com – the company I work for – is spearheading the event along with institution Lost Vagueness and 80s popsters Madness, I couldn’t let anyone venture outside without having a few kissing tips up their sleeves. So if you’re going to to take part in the kiss, or you just want to improve your own necking skills, here are my wisest words.
1. How to tell a good kisser just by looking at them...
* Girls -- go for men with facial hair, as long as it's trimmed, and free of food. Men with goatee beards and moustaches usually have very soft, sensual lips as the hair protects their mouths from getting chapped and wind-burned.
* Fellas -- choose a girl who touches her lips as she talks. This is a sign of having a sensual nature. Avoid girls who play with their hair - they are insecure.
* People who are good kissers are usually self-assured and confident. They will display this by having open body language - they'll stand with their arms by their sides, or hands tucked into their back pockets. They won't seem hunched-over or defensive (i.e., folding their arms across their chest.)
* If you like deep passionate kisses, choose a person who looks relatively fiery and bad-tempered! If you like soft, sensual kisses, choose somebody who seems quieter and more shy.
2. Ensuring the first kiss is amazing…
* Don't immediately kiss them - look into their eyes for five seconds first. This provides a natural "prelude" to the kiss, and makes the actual kiss much more intimate.
* Also, don't lead with your tongue. Yeuch! Instead, start by giving them four of five soft, closed-mouth kisses, then gently lick their bottom lip with just the tip of your tongue. When they open their mouth, ever so gently lick the tip of their tongue with the tip of your tongue. Tremble!
* Gently hold their jawline as you kiss. Use your thumb to lightly stroke their cheek, just underneath the cheekbone. HOT!
* Keep the kiss short rather than long. Break away after 30 seconds and look at them - if they keep their eyes closed and mouth slightly open, they want more kisses.
3. Spicing up kisses with existing partners...
* Break out of the routine by imposing a short-lived Kissing Ban. Tell your partner, "I'm not going to kiss you for the next 30 minutes." From being indifferent about being kissed, they will suddenly begin craving it. Wait for the fireworks after the 30 minutes is up.
* Do the opposite of what you normally do. Usually go in hot and heavy? Start doing Butterfly Kisses instead, where the plant the lightest, softest kisses all over your partner's face until they are desperate for a full-on snog. Similarly, if you are usually slow to warm up, go in immediately with a deep, gentle suck on your partner's bottom lip.
* Start talking about a kiss you remember your partner giving you. Describe it in great detail. Be very complimentary. Touch your neck and lips as you talk, as if the memory is carrying you away. Then sigh and say, "I don't suppose you'd ever be able to kiss like that again." They'll think, "Oh yes I will!" and give you a repeat performance.
* Men, surprise your girlfriend by lifting up her hair and planting a soft kiss on the bone at the nape of her neck. This is a hot-spot for all women and will make her knees go weak. Girls, gently run your tongue over the line of stubble just beneath your bloke's Adams Apple. Scorchio!"
